Originals On Etsy

After a weekend of Spring Cleaning, I have decided it is now time to part with some of my earlier creations. As I rarely offer my originals for sale this is a great opportunity to own two of my most popular pieces: Calliope, a mixed media original drawing and now a popular greeting card and Prayer, a mixed media collage published in Artful Blogging.

Both pieces have been created on  11”x14” 100% cotton duck canvas hand stretched and stapled around solid wood stretchers with a black paint ¾ inch profile. Calliope and Prayer are ready to hang with a screw eye and wire mount in the back. Both pieces have been sealed with a UVLS (ultra violet light stabilizer) polymer varnish as well as an archival spray varnish to prevent light and dust damage.

 I am pleased to announce my new Urban Milagros. Using free form machine embroidery, my Urban Milagros are a fusion of paper, fiber and felt with a high resolution print of a vintage Holy Card image on silk. The juxtaposition of simple day to day elements such as paper against the sacred is to remind us that the mystical is all around us. A talisman of charms and industrial components dot the tip of the heart.

I have opened an account with Art Fire and am offering two Urban Milagros through this platform. To kick off this new venture, these two Milagros have a special tassel, which contain the hand stamped affirmations of Faith, Hope and Love.

Last Day of Magic...

I have been having much to much fun playing around with the techniques and projects in Susan's book, Digital Expressions. Although, I may be accused of being a bit biased since I contributor, I can honestly say Digital Expressions is one of the only PSE books on the market, which demystify the program.

Like most artists, I tend to find a rhythm in a particular technique and continue to work in that realm only. This book has opened my eyes to the breadth of the program. The example of the piece above is just one of many digi works I have created since diving into the book.
